Boon Wah Bah Kut Teh, Klang

Happy New Year! I bet everyone had a blast yesterday nite and most of the blogger must took a lot of nice food picture of their countdown party!

What about Jackson? Hmmm...sadness thing happen to me! I got bad flu yesterday and after taking medicine, i slept at 9 pm sharp!!! When i got up this morning, i received 28 sms.. yes, 28 is a good sign for Chinese and i think i will "8888" in year 2008! Number 2 and 8 is actually my lucky number too as my birthday is on 22/8.

Back to food review! Where is the first restaurant that i visit in year 2008??

Boon Wah Restaurant, located in Taman Berkeley,Klang, is one of the famous restaurant in Klang of their charcoal steamboat at nite. Those days when i was a kid, i used to follow my parents to this place for steamboat but when i grow up, i seldom visit Klang for food anymore. Now, I'm back! I'm so surprise that they sell Bah Kut Teh in the morning too! So, i decided to give them a try.

Hitomi follow us today becoz her mum and dad went to Genting for New Year Eve countdown ( and i heard that they trapped along the way to Genting for 2 hours because of the heavy traffic jam)

Cili Padi and "Yao Char Kuey" is a MUST for bah kut teh!!

Tada....here is my first dish in year 2008!

Since myself and my parents doesn't like the "fats" part, so we ordered the meat without fats or we called it "small bone" aka "Sai Guat" or 小骨。 This version of BKT is consider a "KL style" which is clear in soup base. The usual stall that i went is those sticky type. Well, changes of taste is good once a while. The herbal taste is not too strong which is to my liking and i dun feel thirsty even tho i drink a lot of their soup.

Something special about their claypot BKT is that they add "fried chicken feet" in it which really win my mum's vote. She love to eat chicken feet! Their soup is not too oily too compared with other places. For those ppl who like simple clear soup of BKT, this is the right choice!

Next is their aromatic succulent pork meat in "dry BKT" style. When the owner cooked this, i can smell the "kick" of dried chili and onion all over the place... yum yum! I especially love this version coz they add "zhu tou猪肚" in it!! Imagine the pork belly absorb the flavour and taste of it.... arrrr.. I'm in heaven!

Surprise!!! Steam fish head early in the morning in Klang BKT stall?? Yes, you are not wrong as this is also my first time to eat steamed fish head together with BKT as breakfast!!

Seldom have BKT stall in Klang who served steamed fish head except those in KL. I know my dad love to eat fish head, so i decided to order a small one.

Thanks god i order this! It's the best fish head i ever had so far!!! The fish head is so fresh and i love the springy texture of the fish!! I love the gravy of the fish which basically a blend of nice soy sauce, wine, and some other condiments which make it taste a bit sweet and salty, a bit sour and gingery.... Hitomi also love this fish too!

Guess what, total bill is only RM 42 with the amount of food that we had! The fish head in KL will easily cost us RM 40!! When talk about good and cheap food, Klang is still a better place!

What a good meal i had in the beginning of 2008! I wish all my friends and readers here can feel my happiness too! Once again, wish all of you

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

What a lovely post. The kid look so cute and the food delicious - thanks for sharing. As a Norwegian, my mouth is watering when I see all this great seafood you know (although the fish are different from what we get in Norway:-)

Wishing you a great 2008 or: Godt Nytt År as we say it.

Wow, what a great and heavy breakfast you had in the 1st day of 2008. i only bought 'jap fan' for brunch as i woke up late at noon that day, haha!!
Hmm... i guess BKT as breakfast was only for Klang style, normally in KL they hv it as dinner.

You should try the charcoal steamboat here, they add fried lard into the soup, very nice.
