Banquet, Bangsar Village II

Banquet, a well-known cafe nowadays in Bangsar Village II which have the same owner as Cafe-cafe has create another eating lifestyle..... a so called "fine dining cuisine" in a cafe style.........I heard a lot of good comment from Nipple Joe and Mei Yean....... so let's check it out!

I love their interior design which use a lot of white colour in timber feelings... it's classic yet modern

Personally i love the idea of having those short little "christmas?" tree to divide the command area and dining area

We start off with the beverages - Iced Lemon Tea (RM8) and Cafe Mocha (RM 9). My Cafe Mocha come in 4 layer which is the chocolate syrup at the bottom, hot milk, espresso base and on the top - creamy foam. After I stir my cafe Mocha, the taste turns out to be quiet nice but if i compared with Starbucks Mocha, i still prefer Starbucks style which have more chocolaty flavour. My friend said that the iced lemon tea was a normal one.

Well, if i gonna compared among Delicious and Marmalade, Banquet's drinks here is so much better than the other two.

Nicoise Salad priced at RM 21 served with anchovies, capsicums, tomatoes, boiled egg, black olive, greens and lots of big chunk tuna served with vinaigrette dressing with wholegrain mustard and etc etc ( which i dunno what is that) I love this version of Salad Nicoise because it blend so well between the dressings and greens..... I feel healthy....dunno will i slim down if i finish the whole plate? LOL...

Here's the dressing that i referring to....which served in a small jug

I dunno why i keep remember of what Joe told me about this cafe was their specialty - Oven Butter Fish with Honey Mustard @ RM 25 ( but after check out his blog again, he dun even give a good review on it??? May b I'm getting old ) . So, i decided to give it a try.......

But, but , but...it was a disappointed one. The fish was definitely a fresh one but i just feel that the fish doesn't pair with the Honey Mustard especially the wholegrain mustard. More important is that our salad is already with the similar taste which comes with a lot of wholegrain mustard, why dun the waiter offer or suggest us another dish since they saw us ordering the similar version of dish? arrrggghhhhh!!!

Phew... at last, we didn't finish the fish even tho we know its an expensive meal.......

I'm stupid, i should try their Pan Fried Foie Gras .....may b next time!

p/s: Overall, i think their service standard and food maturity was far away better than Delicious and Marmalade Cafe even tho this dining experience was not perfect... but i knew there must be lots of hidden good food waiting for me to explore...

Oh! since you are posting about Banquet at Bangsar Village.....let me put some final touch on our review... got to say this place is not a food bloggers friendly place as the owner do not welcome cyber food bloggers.... food are just average, nothing to shout about.... pricey too.

BBO, really ah? why they so hostile one ah? who else was complaining that the owners very acksy backsy....hmmm, trying to recall.

i dunno what it is about the young people of today and starbucks. i personally find starbucks like low low low LOWWWWW down on my choice of places to go. even a kopitiam's coffee is more palatable than the vapid stuff they serve there.

the cafe mocha looks interesting with 4 layers. Somehow, I don't really fancy mocha with syrup-I prefer the real cocoa kind. But so hard to find! Looks like a place with good decor though.

BBO : I have a different opinion. The food inredients that they use was good but just that i dun like the butter fish only. WHy u said that they dun welcome food blogger?

jason : we share

麒諾斯 : y no chance?

FBB : That's the different between young people and old people of today. Kopitiam coffee is those low quality Liberica coffee with high caffeine contents but those coffee from Cafe was a good bean - arabica and sometimes robusta which hv better and rounded taste.. haha....dun take it personal ya..LOL

PP : May be we go cafe-cafe together? It's time for u to change, dun alwiz go Max la

kensan : worth trying lo...bro

meiyen : yayyaa...i recall that u love it so much...may b im not a type of fish and mustard person....

kampongboycitygal : worth a try..... but not the butter fish la

daphne : yeah... i hv the same preference with u...i prefer those powder type!!!
