Again, another food review on a special location which not many people know about this place. Red Ginger was located @ North Point, North entrance to the Mid Valley Shopping Mall. If you happen to feel like try out this restaurant, u can either choose to park at the parking lot @ North Point itself or choose to park @ Zon H @ Midvalley car park. To access to North Point through Midvalley, you need to go through the pedestrian bridge from somewhere near the Taxi stand / Toast Box @ the north entrance to the the other side. You will never miss this place since Red Ginger is the first restaurant when u come to North Point through the bridge.
I was a bit late that day.... and i was greet by Lianne, Kington and Jason....through the side window..hehe
I was impressed by the interior design coz they really spend a lot on that. Features some old China feel and they used a lot of timber element in their design. Definitely a good chill out place if you happen to be in MV since most of the cafe there was so packed and noisy ...

We was first served with
Kasturi Pomelo Special priced at RM 7.50. The taste was
a combination of sour, sweet and a hint of bitter if u bite on the
pomelo.. This was a great drinks to start off the dinner!
Buah Rojak (RM 7.80) was a good Malaysian
appetizer coz it contains fresh local vegetable such as cucumber,
sengkuang and pineapple. Something special about this
rojak was the fried "
yao Zhar kway" inside...

Red Ginger Salad (
Pomelo) RM 8.90 was a simple and yet healthy choice.

Stuffed
Yau CHar Kuey RM 5.50 was a little bit cold after we took picture... but it still remain the
crispiness

According to the owner, the
Otak -
otak (RM 9.50) was
a secret recipe from her grandma.. It was cooked with lots of
Santan but personally, i still prefer those from
Muar which is more spicy and less
Santan.... Probably they use Dory fish which i think the taste of it doesn't make the real "
otak taste" stand out.

The
pretty owner was so kind to open the banana leave for us....

The
Otak - otak...

The Chicken
Lobak (RM 8.90) was a bit too salty for me. I still prefer those authentic
Penang Lobak with Pork..
hehe
OOohhh....this is the star of the day! All my family and friend knows that i dun take Curry
Laksa, but this time for the reason of food tasting, i tried their
Laksa Lemak which priced @ RM 11.80 ......
OMG, i was in love!!! The curry gravy was so thick!! The most important ingredients which i need to share with all of u is the fresh "Si Hum" ....... the owner said that its actually not fully raw which the chef will
slightly cooked it with
chili boh!!!
wowow...super
duppa nice!! This is a must try food!

The
Ipoh Hor Fun priced at RM 13.80 was something good too. I like the sweet clear soup and the overall combination of ingredients. Some
bloggers did mention that the
hor fun was not smooth enough but for me, its consider very smooth

Fancy a
CHar Kuey Teow but dun wan those ordinary one? You should try the
Kam Heong Fried
Kuey Teow (RM 13.90) Its with a great fragrance of curry leaves and for sure, this is
something special..

Black Pepper Beef RM 17....no comment on this
coz i cant take beef

Dried Curry Sang
Har Mee RM 23.90. It was a little pricey for me but since it served with a few big prawn...i guess those prawn lovers will love it.

Steamed whole leg chicken with Chinese wine, salt &
wolfberry (RM 18) is also something i like. Even tho it was at the salty side but when u take it with white rice....oohhh....good! The chicken was marinated for more than a day i guess because the chicken flesh was in
pink colour.

The owner is someone who is creative.. even a simple fried rice, she can blend the salted fish with raisins to create
something so special in flavour, unique in texture! Love it!
Pls order this Red Ginger Special Fried Rice RM 14.90 next time!

Last but not least - Macaroons from Big boys oven! This is my first time tasting it and i love the crispy texture!!

I managed to snap a picture outside this
restaurant.... suddenly an idea come into my mind.. When i will be as famous as
thos Ho
Jiak host where i can stick my "Jackson - Living in
Food Heaven" sticker outside the restaurant ...to represent that i visited this restaurant before...hehe...im crazy!
A good news to everyone.... print out this voucher and present to the waiter upon ordering and you will get 15% off from the bill and free dessert of the day!! Hurry Up!! Valid till end of this year!!

That laksa hor, looking at it already "bey tahan" Simply irresistable! *slurp*
Buah rojak = normal rojak?
I wonder if this one has got anything to do with Red Ginger in Damansara Heights because I was there once to host a PR event about 2 years ago. The menu is similar too. I remember their otak otak is to die for..yummz.The Ipoh chicken hor fun is also very good even by Ipoh standard.
aiyoh..thank god u didnt do ur review in chinese..haha so i can read this...apparently my parents went that nite when i wasnt around..werent too impressed at the hor fun bcoz the soup had a very strong pork taste..

New idea to add yourself next to the name of the restaurant...

That's alot of food. You're indeed a big eater ya.. No offense, ok.. I like to see people enjoy eating their food. Good good. ;D
Omg.. I'm drooling all over my computer screen. I never knew of this well-hidden gem but now I do! too late tho, but will definitely try it next year when I come back! I love the Ipoh hor fun most! *drools*

Even the fried rice is presented creatively.
The Ipoh Hor Fun looks good. Looks like lots of good review on this outlet.

kelly mahoney : Ohh.. the fried rice is good but the presentation is consider normal in KL
new kids on the blog : yes.. this restaurant served good nyonya food but just that the price is a little bit high. But bear in mind, u have the discount voucher!!
I am already craving for red ginger.... I dreamed of their food last nite.... otak otak... lovely, spicy as the way I love them to be... omg! their "San Har"(BIG PRAWN) Curry Noodle so gorgeous....will always be back...
rojak with fried "yao Zhar kway" inside is not really a new thing. In Melaka they include "kangkung" which i found more weird.
I can't stop scooping the Kum Heong Kuey Tiaw lar that night... addictive... really addictive.
ah... finally open already in Mid Valley, not sure they still keep their Bukit Damansara outlet or not, anyway, another choice for lunch/dinner :-)
You r better than Ho Jiak. Ho Jiak Sucksssssss, both of them not fit to host that program, ask them to host children programs bttr still. Vote for Jackson to host Ho Jiak, Jackson, Jackson, Jackson
For a moment, I actually thought the coupon was for real. Wait, it isn't right? =o
sammy : its a real coupon but valid till 2007 only..hehe
